The Beaches of Costa Teguise
The Beaches of Costa Teguise are the main central beach of Playa de los Cucharas, to the north Playa de los Charcos and to the south Playa del Jabillo/Playa Bastian.
To the north of the resort just beyond the boundary of the Meliá Selinas hotel is the beach of Playa de los Charcos. For those that wish to get away from the busy central beach this is the spot for you. The beach is quite a natural cove shielded by manmade rock walkways great for swimming, fishing and snorkelling.
The main beach of Costa Teguise around 1km all the way round with a continuous paved walkway is Los Cucharas. Sitting at the north of the beach is the hotel Meliá Selinas and the Las Cucharas centre with its restaurants, cafe bars and shopping. Running south along the sandy beach Wind surfing is the main sport with safety boat.
Mid beach but set back slightly because of the incline is the Las Maratas Centre with the surf schools facing the beach and the car park to the front, there is bike hire at this point. Within this small centre there are a couple of secluded restaurants, beach bar and wine bar.
To the south of the main beach keeping to the walkway at the south end of the bay are quite a number of beach bars, restaurants and resort shopping. The end of the beach area is the harbour wall with its monument.
If you stay on the walkway it rounds the small headland and joins up with the Playa del Jablillo, often referred to as Playa Bastian beach but in truth Playa Bastian is around 400m further along. Signified by the stone watchtower. The beach at the Occidental Hotel has a scuba dive school, the small Jablillo bay its main training area if you want to give it a go.
